FOOD PANTRY

WavesTransparentLog PNG.png

THE BEGINNING

In January of 2018, Waves of Compassion Foundation, set up, funded and operated Bodega Bay’s first Food Pantry.

Our pantry serves local individuals and families who either live or work in our coastal community, Bodega Bay, Bodega, Jenner, and Valley Ford.

Pantries are held every 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of the month in Bodega Bay.

Our current hours are 3:30-5:00pm.

We purchase most food from the Redwood Empire Food Bank and distribute it at no cost.

Managing Change

During the pandemic, we worked to maintain consistency of service in every way we could. Safety of our community is of upmost importance to us.  Whether that's for the winter flu season or just to ensure pedestrian safety, we prioritize our community.
  • Today, we operate as a drive-through to ensure the speediest access for everyone while being as safe as possible for everyone.  All food is Pre-bagged and brought to your car.

OFFERING DELIVERY

We want to make sure that we are providing a service to our community that includes avenues for each individual to receive assistance in the manner that feels the most safe for them.

Don't hesitate to contact us and ask for your pantry food to be delivered if needed. Delivery is available in Bodega Bay only.

VOLUNTEERS MAKE EVERYTHING HAPPEN

We’d like to thank our many volunteers; the pantry would not be possible without your help.   The dedication we're seeing from our small area is jaw-dropping and we've never been more impressed or proud to be a part of this community.  Together, we make a huge difference in providing the support our community needs.  Thank you!

BIG HELP FROM SMALL PLACES

We'd like to thank the one large partner organization for our food pantry - Redwood Empire Food Bank.  They have been instrumental in our ability to start and operate this gift to our community.

Our food pantry would not be possible without the sponsorship and partnership of the 777 Grange Hall.  Our Bodega Bay Grange serves our community in so many ways, and has become the staple of our food pantry.  Thank you Grange Board!

A huge thank you to the Sonoma County Regional Parks for the temprorary use of the Bodega Bay Yacht Club's parking lot during the 2023 Grange construction.

Our small local businesses have stepped up heroically in their donations and support to our pantry effort.  We'd especially like to thank:
  • Raymond’s Bakery - For regular donation of freshly baked artisan bread.  What a special and unique treat to have as part of our regular food pantry.  We love you Mark!
  • Grocery Outlet of Santa Rosa - For regular large orders of specialty items at rates we could never find elsewhere.  We are so grateful!
